External Support

Their mission is to connect Black individuals and families with free mental health services - by professional Black therapists to support their mental health. To make this happen, they want to make mental health topics more relevant and accessible for all Black people in the UK, removing the stigma and remodelling the services to be relevant for the Black community.

When Serena was experiencing mental health difficulties she found it hard to find inclusive support which reflected her South Asian (SA) background. After running peer-support groups for the South Asian community - she realised many others felt the same.

This led her to start Desi Minds and enable the SA community to learn about their mental health in a space made for them & connect with organisations to support them.

BAATN are the UK’s largest independent organisation to specialise in working psychologically, informed by an understanding of intersectionality, with people who identify as Black, African, South Asian and Caribbean. 

Their primary focus and area of expertise is to support people from these heritages. However, are open to other People of Colour who are affected by oppression due to the colour of their skin and global white power.

If you are from a Black, Asian, or Minority Ethnic (BAME) background, you may face specific issues relating to your mental health. This section of the website gives information on your options for support and treatment to help resolve specific issues. This section is for anyone interested in BAME mental health. You may also find this information helpful if you care for someone from a BAME background.

Dope Black Dads is a digital safe space for fathers who wish to discuss their experiences of being black, a parent and masculinity in the modern world.

Their aim is to celebrate, heal, inspire and educate black fathers for better outcomes for black families.

The Brown Therapist Network is a learning hub promoting knowledge of south Asian mental health. They welcome all South Asian therapists, ranging from a number of disciplines including psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors and coaches.
